Sandy's Intro

A young girl walked slowly up a large hill, every stride came long and low. She breathed through her mouth, her eyes only to the floor. Suddenly, she fell upon a large door and forced it open. She collapsed on the hard floor and panted. Quickly standing up before anyone saw her. "Oh...my...word." She breathed heavily. Her legs felt like jelly, weak and feable. Afterall, she had just walked up a steap hill. Yes, walked. "H, hello?" She called, getting her breath back. "Pro...Professor Yurnable? I'm here about the starter pokemon." Looking around, she saw no movement...was he even here?

A young man looked up from the research papers at his small desk at Sandy's voice. Smiling gently, he pushed his glasses up his long nose and stood. With his white plain lab coat brushed the ground he quickly moved towards the obviously nervous girl.
Pushing a strand of long silver hair from his face, the male smiled to her again. "Hello there, miss. I'm rather sorry but Professor Yurnable isn't here at the moment. I believe he went to check on some research files. It will take him a while. Maybe I could help you with what you need? Yes?" He stopped to gaze over her with soft, kind, brown eyes. "Oh and, you may call me James. I'm one of Professor Yurnable's assistants."

Sandy blinked a couple of times before nodding and pushing her hair behind her ears. She sould have worn a bobble. "Yes." She began, looking into the boys' eyes. She did really want to meat Professor Yurnable...but oh well, that must wait for another day now. "I'm here for my starter pokemon. Could you please show me around? And, do you have any ponyta in stock?" Sandy's favourite pokemon was Ponyta and Rapidash, but you had to off start with a non-evolved pokemon right? The girl couldn't hold in her excitement, for so long she had wanted to become a pokemon trainer...now that dream was almost reality.

James nodded quickly and started to walk away again. "Yes, I believe we do have a Ponyta. It's back here, follow me and I will get it for you." Without waiting for her to catch up, he just kept walking, soon arriving at the back of the large building. Sitting on a tray were a group of red and white balls. He scanned through them once then plucked out a single ball and waited for Sandy. "This will be your first pokemon, yes? I will have to give you your pokedex and some pokeballs as well then, I think. I will explain how to use them later."

Sandy blinked quickly, then ran after the Professor's Assistant. She didn't like waiting. She smiled and squeeled in excitement. They had Ponyta! Sandy stopped suddenly, almost banging into the back the boy infront of her. here were many, many different coloured pokeballs upon a large tray. Could there possibly be pokemon in every single one of them? Who knew? But she didn't care really, she just wanted her starter pokemon...her ponyta. "Yes," she grinned, replying to the boy's question. "Oh, there is no need, I know how to use them. I watch my dad do it all the time." It was true, she didn't have to be told how to use pokeballs.

Smiling he watched her. Barely ever did James ever see such an excited rookie at the lab. He could tell at once she would be great at looking after the spirited little Ponyta. "Alright, then all you need is your equipment and you are all set for your adventure. Oh, of course, first you should meet Ponyta here." With a quick flick of his wrist, the pokemon burst open, revealing its content, a young Ponyta. "Go on Ponyta, go and get to know your trainer. I'm quite sure she would love to meet you." With that he left to grab the paper work and other bits and pieces. "Oh, there is a small area outside, over there. You might want to take Ponyta out for a little run or something. I will meet you out there soon."

Sandy couldn't believe her eyes. There, infront of her stood...her ponyta-to-be. As soon as it came out of the pokeball, it shook its head a nd nickered quietly. Sandy walked over to it, weary of the flames. For only when a ponyta trusted you, would the flames not hurt.

She reached out her hand, bringing it closer to the ponyta's muzzle. Suddenly, the ponyta looked up into Sandy's eyes. They blazed with fire, brilliant, dazzling fire. She lifted her muzzle up, pushing it against Sandys hand. All of the heat from the flames went and the fire seemed to 'bounce' off Sandy's hand when it touched. The ponyta trusted Sandy.

Sandy's eyes glistened, "you trust me? I trust you," she whispered, hugging the ponyta, who nuzzled her slgihtly. "Come on, lets go outside and wait for the Professor's assistant." With a flick of Ponyta's fiery tail, she began to trot ahead of Sandy. Pawing the ground and joy.

It was only a few minutes before James reappeared, carrying a small pile of objects including some paperwork. "Right. I need you to fill out a few things on this and then you will be done, seeing as how you know how to use pokeballs." Gazing down to the Ponyta, he placed the paperwork on a bench and handed Sandy the pokeballs and pokedex. "Here you go. And it's good to see that spirited little thing trusts you already."

Bic;; Sandy scribbled down upon the forms, filling them in neatly with her hand-writing. "There," she said, handing them back to the Professor's assistant. "Thank you very much!" She smiled, before turning around to her new pokemon. "I hope you like the name Ember." She joked, stroking her Ponyta who seemed to agree. A few minutes later and Sandy waved goodbye to the boy at the entrance of the laboratory. "Thanks again!" She called, a few metres down the hill. Now her adventure as a pokemon trainer had really begun.
