Shadow stepped upon the soft grass, looking upwards, a bit concerned that he would not have enough energy to train pokemon after he had reached the top. His hazels eyes scanned across the grass, he heard pokemon's voices behind him, ready to be captured. He looked around, he didn't want to spend all his time climbing this stupid hill, his blue tattered shirt shook violently as the wind bashed against him. He gave a small gulp before starting to climb up the hill.
Well.. First time should never be judged right? Shadow just came tumbling down, he looked around, to see if anything could help him on his way up. His hazel eyes searched rapidly around the area.. Nothing. Shadow looked around, tapping his foot constantly on the ground in anger. He scanned upwards, he ran up, grass and dirt flew behind him, then he came tumbling down again. He roared slightly, his hazel eyes and purple shorts glimmering as the sun hit them. He charge up again, this time more faster and he had more grip. He could see the lab from above, he smiled, grabbing onto something that was sticking out. He grasped onto it, struggling his way up. He collapsed as he fell to the soft earth of the doors of the lab. He sighed, panting slightly.
He opened the doors with one big heave, struggling slightly from all the energy he had used. He looked around, scanning the items as they glimmered through the slight light. "Urm.. Hello?" He asked to thin air. Looking around for the Professor at the door. "Prof?" He asked again, getting a bit angry.

A lean young man sucking on a stick of pocky wiggled out from an adjoining room, his arms filled with files and duotangs. He nodded at the boy in the door to enter as he danced around a table before unleashing his load. He then pulled the candy from his mouth and smiled a cooky cheerful grin. "Come in, come in," he called. "I am Hoshi Nakamura, one of Professor Yurnable's aids," he explained, offering his candy-less hand to the prospective trainer; despite his unorganized appearance and mannerisms, it was clear that the man's green eyes were calculating and . "Unfortunately the professor has stepped out to retrieve some more files," the red-haired man laughed softly, nodding towards the pile of research he had just hauled in, "don't you think we have enough already?" Hoshi raised a finger to stop the boy, winking cheekily, "Now, now, never mind that nonsense, I'm sure you're here about your starter pokemon, and we should cut to business before I start blithering on about nothing. Come," he ordered kindly, backing up with one large step and waving to a side door, "I'll show you what we have outside." He swung open the door and waited politely for the boy to exit, tightening up for one second as he did so. "Oh, and ... by the by, did you happen to mention your name?" Hoshi laughed awkwardly, stretching one arm behind his back, probably sticking his pocky to the back of his lab coat; but it was unlikely the boy had heard him, as most youths go momentarily deaf and dumb when shown their prospective starter pokemon; and outside bounced eevees, electrikes, budews and one poliwag in such a picture-perfect way, that it was very easy to become entranced.

The boy blinked rapidly at the youngster, as he heard the word 'Come in' he quickly ruffled inside. The cold air was removed from his flesh, he felt slightly better from being away from the horrible hill. At first he thought this boy was the Professor, but when he heard 'Aid' he quickly tilted his head and ruffled in slightly more. His hazel eyes stared at all the files, boy he didn't want to be a Professor, no way. He didn't like work, quite annoying and it wastes your time.
Shadow screwed his face slightly but then tried to smile, while moving his hand to the aids hand, shaking it slightly before moving it back behind his back. Looking down, his black hair slowly slumped forward, he didn't make a sound.
Once the aid said that the Prof had left for some files he quickly looked up and nodded. Moving his sneakers along the ground, making slight 'squelch' noises.
"Urm, Yes. I'm here for my first.." Before Shadow could finish the Aid had taken a step back, asking him to come along as well. "What..? Oh, yes." Shadow did a quick jog towards Hoshi. As soon as the door was suddenly opened Shadow yelped slightly, bouncing back. At the moment he wanted to show this goodie two-shoes who's who. But he really wanted to start his journey, so he would have to be nice.
"Oh yes.. My name is.." He stopped, muttering something before continuing. "Shadow.." He felt that the Aid would laugh at his name. He stepped cautiously outside, staring at the happy pokemon.
"Wow, so many to choose from hey?" Shadow said, smiling. Looking at all the pokemon he looked around, wondering which one to choose. "Any Suggestions?" He asked, leaning on the door.

Hoshi chuckled, "Donations, donations; that's why we have so many. And suggestions? Well, they're all good choices really. However, the eevees and electrikes are a bit stronger for the moment; and if you want to take into account that everyone else in the area has the same choices, electrikes and budews will be strong against any poliwags, while eevees are somewhat neutral in the equation. However, that says nothing about the outside world, and how you and your pokemon will interact on your long journeys, so it really comes down to your personality and whether you want to always get along with your pokemon ... I mean, I do, but some people feel that that really doesn't classify you as a trainer..." he mumbled off awkwardly. Then seemed to notice his missing candy and turned about a few times in confusion. Standing up straight again, Hoshi innocently shoved his hands in his pockets, "Anyway, I'll be inside if you need me, just bring one in and I'll get you started, as I said."

Shadow nodded rapidly, as the Aid quickly went in he let out a low sigh and collapsed on the grass. Most of the pokemon turned their stares to him, many just happily yelped at him. Others seemed to want him dead.. He did a small gulp before wriggling into a stand.
"Lets see.. I was thinking about a Poliwag.." He mumbled, nodding. "But from this angle well.. They just don't look the same.."
He sighed, leaning on the wood fence, his glance searching for the right pokemon. "Eevee's look awesome, but I would pull all my hair out thinking of what to evolve it into.."
He hit the fence with his clutched fist, mumbling something else before looking around again. A small Eevee bounced near him, giving a small yelp. Shadow out stretched his hand, attempting to pat the creature. But the Eevee had other plans, it bounced off his hand and onto the fence, where it laid down and rested.
Shadow deeply sighed. He really wanted a pokemon that liked him aswell as being a loyal friend and trainer. He spotted a little Electrike, he smiled bouncing to his feet he walked over. “Hello There little Electric Pokemon.”
The pokemon stopped and stared, it gave a growl before nibbling his leg. Shadow wasn’t put off, he smiled patting it. “Your quite cute eh’?” He smiled, running his hand through the pokemon’s fur. The pokemon admired him, seeing that he wasn’t running away. The pokemon yelped and hugged his leg tightly. “Your not so bad.. Ok, I’ve made my choice!” He grinned as picking up the pokemon and hugging it. “Your going to be my pokemon.”
The Electrike barked, nuzzling him. He looked around, before knocking on the door and shouting; “I’ve made my Choice.”

As Hoshi took a seat in the main reception, he noticed a strange lump in the back of his chair. He was in the middle of sorrowfully prying his candy from the seat when Shadow called, and after a disappointed twitch, draped his coat over the chair so that the trainer mightn't see how foolish he was. He quickly snapped up a green file from a large bookshelf and a beige package from an estranged pile, and took long strides to reach Shadow to keep him from having to wait too long. Upon reaching the doorway, Hoshi smiled as he saw the boy ruffling the fur of an electrike and inexplicably pulled the appropriate page out of the file. "Wonderful!" exclaimed the aid, pleased with the turnout, "Well I have here just a quick form for you to fill out so that we can begin tracking your progress; despite Professor Yurnable's absence, I can assure you he's very proud of all the trainer's he's been able to encourage. And," Hoshi continued enthusiastically, "this package holds your pokeballs, pokedex and a trainer card for you to personalize," he added in an undertone, "I decided to wrap everything up after dropping more than a few important items for new trainers ... anyway, if you bring the electrike inside, I'll give you his/her pokeball, and you can have a surface to fill the form out on!" He grinned, please with not having fallen over his words.

Shadow smiled, continuing to ruffle the dog pokemon's fur. "Urm, Ok." Shadow said, nodding, raising a eyebrow to see a lump. He thought he was imagining, so he just shook his head and placed the Electrike down. It gave a happy bark, runnning around his legs with it's powerful green legs.
He grinned at the pokemon, it reared up on its hide legs and barked. He grasped the paper, running his eyes side to side to quickly read. He grasped a pen at the side of him, while reading over again he continued writing the answers.

He nodded once, then again. Then he smiled and placed the paper in front of Hoshi's nose. "There you are done.." He said in a slightly deeper voice.

Hoshi rolled his eyes playfully, taking the form and reading it over in a quick revision. "Perfect, I'm sure this will go over wonderfully with the professor." He quickly paced across the room and grabbed a new file, labeling it Shadow and placing the form inside. Next he reached into a basket attached to the back of the door leading to the pokepen and retrieved the electrike, or rather, Trick's pokeball. The aid tossed it over to Shadow with a weak underhand calling, "And that's all I can do for you... It'd be best, I'd say for you to just jump right in; Kesleworth Forest is just around the bend. Unfortunately I can't offer you any of the professor's healing supplies, but there's always things to be found out there, and I'm sure you'll be fine, with Trick by your side." While speaking, Hoshi somewhat rudely encouraged Shadow out the door, not slamming it in his face, but he did shuffle the boy outside hurriedly. "It was nice meeting you," he peeped, offering his hand, hoping to return to work, "I wish you the best of luck..."

"Great!" Shadow exclaimed happily, Trick barked wildly while running in and out of his feet. Shadow grasped hold of the incoming pokeball'
"Thank you anyway.." He said, being shuffled out quickly he blinked. 'I never knew Aides were Suppose to be so rude..' He thought grumpily.
He stared at his little electric type, Trick reared up and jumped at his chest, nuzzling him. "Aw.. I don't care how rude he was being.. At least I got you.. Trick." Shadow mumbled, hugging the pokemon. "Your name is Trick. Please Trick, come into the pokeball."
Trick barked before being absorbed in a red light into the pokeball'. He grinned while taking a step forward, maybe a too big of step.. He came tumbling down the hill, dirt, pebbles and rock flew into his face at high speeds.
